Our Story

Born and raised in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Leesa, owner/operator of Sunshine Coast Pet Crematorium, grew up surrounded by animals — dogs, cats, birds, chooks, goats, wallabies and even a pet dingo. Animals have always been part of her life, often sharing her home and, more often than not, her bed.

With over 21 years’ experience in animal welfare, Leesa has fostered, adopted, been a spokesperson and cared for many animals over the years, giving her a deep understanding of the bond between pets and their families. Her love of animals, along with her connection to the local community, has shaped the caring and compassionate service she provides today.

Leesa knows firsthand how difficult it is to say goodbye to a much-loved pet. They become part of the family, part of our daily lives, and they deserve to be farewelled with dignity, love and respect. In 2017, Leesa founded Sunshine Coast Pet Crematorium as a way to combine her compassion for animals with her desire to support families during one of the hardest times.

Sunshine Coast Pet Crematorium is a small, owner-operated business, which means families can be assured of a caring, personalised service. As a local business, Leesa also aims to source equipment and services locally wherever possible, while keeping overheads low so that a loving farewell remains as affordable as possible for everyone.

RIP Frankie

A tribute to our beautiful, loving, loyal Frankie. I miss her every day. She came to us after what must have been a very hard first few years of life. Frankie, I hope you were able to forget those early years and know how loved you were. Leesa

Service Coverage Area

We do home or vet pick up and drop off to most of the Sunshine Coast and Noosa local government areas.  We also service Gympie but this is generally limited pick up and drop off to Vet Surgeries only, due to the difficulty in scheduling home visits as we can not travel there every day.
Anyone outside this area is most welcome to make an appointment and bring your pet to our Crematory in Yandina.

My Pets

Loves sleeping in the front seat of the car, sleeping on his bean bag and sleeping on his recliner. And sometimes showing his favourite toys to visitors.

MC arrived with a littler of kittens but she was very scared and couldn't be approached. She raised her kittens, hiding under a cabinet in our bathroom and hissed and lashed out any time someone entered the room. She couldn't be re-homed due to her extreme fear so she has stayed with us. Over the months she has slowly learned to relax (a lot) (see pic), but only with us, she still will not tolerate ANY strangers!

Rest In Peace
Found and dropped at the Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge heavily pregnant in 2006. Extremely timid and afraid, she ran away from her first adopted home before coming home with us aged approximately 3yrs. Unknown to us she was escaping under our fence while we were at work in the first weeks, but luckily would return in time for when we got home! A special companion, loved by everyone she met, RIP 2019.

After being found in a skip bin and taken to the Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge. She was extremely afraid and difficult to get close to, yet not aggressive. She was adopted, only to be brought back because she would hide and not come out for days, even to eat. Kelly spent nearly a year at the Refuge (where we would see her couple of times a week while volunteering) before we were in a housing position able to take her home in 2005. She never quite warmed to strangers but loved her family. RIP 2021.

KitKat found himself homeless at 14yrs of age and was taken in by 4 Paws Animal Rescue. At the time they did not have any foster carers available to look after him so we took him in. He fitted in so well we kept him. RIP 2022
